Darphin – I love the name! Its so pretty and so French But I’ve never used anything from this skincare line before, has anyone? The Ideal Resource Smoothing Retexturizing Radiance Cream is the first item I’ve tried from the brand which, in Malaysia, is sold primarily through salons. It might explain why it hits my blind spot.

This cream is, as you might guess from the name, an anti-aging cream, designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and to make skin look more radiant. Darphin is one of those skincare ranges that use flowers and extracts of essential oils in their products. The cream itself has a lovely light scent of flowers and I like it. I find it relaxing – not such a bad thing in the mornings, when one has to get ready to face the day I did run into a bit of fly in the ointment though… not literally

One of the more interesting items from the Dior Croisette Summer 2012 collection is the 1 Couleur Eye Gloss which comes in 4 shades. Eye Gloss! Turns out that what it is is a liquid cream eyeshadow in a lip gloss type packaging. To be perfectly honest, it didn’t grab my attention very much. I have used cream shadows of a similar texture and packaging before, and I have always been less than impressed.

The key however, is to expect the unexpected when it comes to high end brands like these. I wasn’t expecting much but I was suitably impressed on two points – sparklies and texture. But do you really need this eye gloss? I’m going to stick my neck out and say no. You do not. Its nice to have, but its not a must have. I’ll tell you why

I’m back in one of my nosy moods

I was doing my face a few days ago when I accidentally kicked at the stool next to my dressing table which brought forth a string of not very savoury words. It was then that I actually looked at the stool that I’ve had for almost 5 years now, and wondered “Why do I even have a dressing table stool, when I do my makeup and skincare routine all standing up?!”

How very strange right? So I wondered if I might be one of those rare birds who does her whole skincare and makeup routine standing up, or do I have company?

There is something you may know about me. Or you may not. But I’m a blush fiend. Blushes were my first love, even before lipstick and I have a … well… pretty large collection I don’t discriminate with brands, if you are wondering. You may notice that I have a fondness for the luxury brands, but when it comes to blush (and lipstick), I am quite prepared to look in the budget sections provided there is something good and worth looking at

Which is how I stumbled on the Silkygirl Blushing Trio blush one day at the pharmacy. Silkygirl is a local (Malaysian) brand of inexpensive cosmetics that is very easy on the pocket. I spotted the new Blushing Trio blushes one day and later went back to pick one up. A preliminary swatch of the tester made me think it a decent enough buy. The low low promotional price of RM19.88 (RRP RM25.90) helped of course!

But does the cheap price mean cheap and crappy product?
